Ph.D. in international law at Sorbonne University, France.
She got the highest estimate award given by the Paris Academy –Sorbonne- for the first time in several decades to Arab student, selected from 350 submitted Ph.D. thesis.
The thesis subjects is : The application of international law on water dispute in the Middle East.
MAWRED MODERNISING & ACTIVATING WOMEN'S ROLE IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, through their monthly MBC MAWRED Business Club, Invited all its members to a lecture entitled "Water the challenge of the future" by Dr. Rana Kharouf, on Sunday 31/8/2008 at Rida Said Hall at Damascus University.
The event started by the Syrian Arab national hymn, then MAWRED, honored Dr. Rana Kharouf for her role helping women in society and for her achievements at the international level.
The lecture emphasis the important role of international law as an actor to avoid conflicts on water sharing preserves, its integrity and to be a bridge of peace in the region.
Dr. Kharouf said at the beginning that the water is not a necessity of life, but the main causes for the continuation of life on Earth, with the climate change phenomena of and drought-affected water resources in the world, the need to maintain this vital component is the most important requirements of the present era.
Women's always play a role as a partner with men. Together they are involved in improving the economic development and making progress in the society, add the lecturer. so to strengthen its role in water conservation and pollution of abrasion great impact in advancing economic and social advancement.
